We Live For Each Other

(1)

The emperor looked around,
For his first prey.
I wanted to help that kid but being more hopeless than ever,
Had no other alternative than to pray.

Pat was led by a soldier,
Towards an enclosed field.
It had high fences so that neither the performer of the horrors within should be able to escape,
Nor the warrior fighting with just his sword and shield.

Nat was intently watching inside through the see-through fence,
Waiting for the inevitable to take place.
Better sooner than later that’s what seemed on her mind,
Her brother was not really made for this kind of race.

Pat took his position,
Getting ready for the upcoming peril.
Everyone present their new what kind of horrible scenes they were about to witness,
Enough to make anyone shudder.

The door of one of 20 cages opened,
And outside came a gigantic creature with massive feet.
It looked like a lion but no, it was a dog,
A dog in every other aspect, who looked hungry and surely wanted something to eat.

For convenience,
Let’s call it ‘Lidog’.
Don’t judge it’s abilities by the funny and amusing name,
It’s power and strength can give you a great shock.

It was about twice as large as Pat,
And the fear in his eyes was evident.
It’s build was strong and solid,
Doubt if his sword could cause there even a dent.

The lidog searched around for his prey,
And found Pat standing in front.
It wasted no time in surveying the situation,
And for Pat, it made a run.

The constant barking was loud and aggressive,
It was approaching fast.
Pat was finding it hard even to move,
But to survive, defending himself was must.

The lidog hit him with it’s head,
And Pat went down flying.
It was hit back with equal impact because of the hardness of his shield,
The battle was on level and both of them, equally close to dying.

While the lidog was getting ready for it’s second strike,
Pat stood up again.
It was not at all easy to beat this creature,
And certainly, required the usage of brain.

The battle went on,
As both of them ran towards each other.
The lidog tried to hit Pat with it’s front claws and Pat swung his sword hard in return,
But he missed his aim and received a heavy blow on one of his cheeks which made him totally shudder.

The lidog hit him again,
And he got pinned to the ground.
It was now on top of Pat, prepared to give the final death blow,
Meanwhile, he was unable to make even a sound.

Just then,
Some disturbance was heard near the gates.
Jon was pulling at it hard, trying to enter the field,
The lidog looked around to see the source of noise which gave Pat enough time to make it regret it’s fate.

Pat swung his sword with all his might,
Slashing the lidog’s stomach.
It howled shrilly due to the pain while Pat got prepared to finish it off,
And for once in his life, enjoy his luck.

He aimed his sword at it’s head,
But couldn’t do the final deed.
Pat decided to leave it as it was,
And receive the medication in need.

He exited the field,
And went straight to Jon.
Both of them hugged each other as tight as they could,
Getting teary-eyed, I prayed,
“Lord, hail this bond.”
