Just A Simple Lie

“Let me give you,
A brief description of my life.
From the start, it has been hard and to earn every single penny,
We had to strive.

We were born as twins,
Me and my sister.
Our mother and father were easy-going and humble people,
And there was nothing about them which sounded sinister.

At the age of 1,
Passed away my father.
Now our dreams to lead a happy and glorious life,
Seemed much more farther.

Of our family,
He was the only earning member.
There is not even a single moment spent with him,
Which I can remember.

The gain by his sudden death,
Was not clear.
Yet he was found dead on the street one night,
Though he had no enemies to fear.

Our mother couldn’t stand it,
Cause no actions to capture the criminal were being taken.
Although her soul was ripped apart by this tragedy,
She remained brave and showed no signs of being shaken.

Five years passed like that,
And all her efforts to bring justice to my father went in vain.
She couldn’t take it anymore, so she took her own life,
Leaving both of us to walk alone in the rain.

My father’s brother,
Took us to his place.
We were to spend our remaining childhood with him,
And whole destiny seemed to be trapped in a mace.

Uncle had 1 son, 1 daughter,
And a big terrier.
The daughter was young and spent most of her time at home,
While the son was out in another city to pursue his career.

Our Aunt didn’t like us much,
And forced her to do most of the domestic work.
Whenever uncle came home angry,
He used to beat me up and enjoy the pleasure of seeing someone being hurt.

Although,
Aunt hated both of us.
Uncle liked my sister for being witty and she managed to save me from being hit sometimes,
Cause her request made him stop without making a huge fuss.

We lived in this hell,
For almost 3 years.
Atlast, my sister persuaded me to run away though I felt afraid at first,
But I too didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of seeing more tears.

Once we were out,
I was contented to follow her around.
We did odd jobs to earn a living,
And slept just on ground.

She was the leader,
Who taught me a lot about life.
When it comes to brains, I always feel well left behind,
No matter, we were born the same day to my father and his wife.

My uncle and aunt,
Never came looking for us.
It didn’t matter to them,
Whether we live or rust.

I can’t ever forget that particular day,
When I engaged myself in a fight against 3 strong boys.
Being the hot-headed guy I had always been,
We fought with full force creating a lot of noise.

When my sister saw me,
I was already beaten up badly.
She immediately came to my rescue,
And took them on gladly.

I managed to rise again,
And helped her to finish this job.
Although, it took many cuts and bruises to finally drive them away,
This pain didn’t have the power to make any of us, sob.

We both confusedly looked at each other,
And a smile found its way.
It was a symbol of our constant support for each other forever,
We didn’t need anything to say.

Now, maybe you will understand,
Why I couldn’t let her go without me in the event.
I offered myself to take part,
So that she won’t have to face alone all the dements.

If I fail to clear, even the first round,
Please, just tell her from my side –
I tried my best to be alongside with her,
But couldn’t join her in this ride.

I tried my best,
To become her deserving brother.
And my love for her,
Can’t ever be matched by another.

I’ll always be with her,
Even if I die.
She needn’t worry, I’ll be at a better place,
Life here, is nothing more than just a simple lie.”
